Q1 2021 Performance of Carpooling & Ridesharing Apps on Android in the UK

As the first quarter of 2021 comes to a close, Sensor Tower provides a snapshot of the UK's carpooling and ridesharing app landscape on the Android platform. Here's how the top players fared during this period.

Uber - Request a ride maintained its lead with downloads fluctuating around the 10K mark, peaking at 14K in late March. Weekly active users showed an upward trend, starting at approximately 407K in late December and reaching a peak of over 521K by the end of March.

Bolt: Request a Ride saw its downloads vary, with a notable dip to 3.3K in early March, but a recovery to over 6K by the end of the quarter. Weekly active users experienced a slight decrease from 82K in late December to around 78K by March end.

The Uber - Driver: Drive & Deliver app, catering to drivers, had downloads ranging from 2.9K to 6.3K, with the highest in mid-January. The app's active users remained relatively stable, with a slight decline from around 50K in December to 45K at the quarter's end.

Ola, Safe and affordable rides, while not matching Uber's figures, displayed a consistent user base with weekly active users hovering in the 80K to 90K range throughout the quarter. Downloads saw a drop from 2.7K at the beginning of the period to just over 2K by March.

Lastly, the Ola Driver app experienced a gradual increase in downloads, starting from under 1K and ending the quarter with over 700 downloads. Active users showed a modest rise from 4.9K to just over 5K in the same timeframe.
